This sub-area corresponds to the earlier work of the previous area around the idea of ‘territorial intelligence’. It involves theoretical research on territories as research objects, on their dynamics and metabolisms, and on the role of information in these processes.

Since 2010, a number of research projects have been carried out on territories and their complexity, and on the role of information in the functioning of territories. Certain areas are being closely examined in this context, in particular the cross-border territory of the Arc Jurassien.
